Inverness
is a small serene town ideally situated for touring around
the Highlands. In just 5 minutes out of town the most fascinating
landscapes will open out to you, so you don't have to travel
far, and of course, you would be forgiven for doing the
"touristy thing" by trying to find the Loch Ness

Majestic glens, towering mountains sometimes suddenly emerging
out of nowhere, the moonlike landscapes of the North West,
white stretches of sandy beaches and secluded hill lochans,
vast heather clad moors, huge spaces with little chance
of meeting another soul; there is something for everybody,
whether you want to just relax end enjoy the sound of silence
or be energetic and explore the incredible possibilities
offered by all kinds of paths or cycle routes for all abilities.
In Inverness itself there are cinemas, a theatre, many restaurants
and pubs.
You can spend some pleasant time walking along the river
Ness. There is a bustling shopping centre where many of
the local crafts can be found.
If you want a break from your car there many tours and cruises.
Hiring a car is easy.
There is an Aquadome and Sports Centre and two championship
links golf courses. Pony trekking is another rewarding way
of exploring the countryside.
There are also many fine top class salmon rivers and lochs
with boats for hire.
The local tourist office, situated in the centre of the
town, will be able to give you all kinds of information
and timetables.
